How payment requests work

Effective August 19, 2026. Payment requests are staged to match project progress. This article explains the limits, how the portal guides you through them, and what the change means for loans already in progress.

The limits

On a $10,000 approval:

  • Any single request (deposit, initial, or project charge) — up to 50%, or $5,000.

  • All requests before the final charge — up to 75% combined, or $7,500.

  • The final charge — everything remaining, no limit.

You don't need to do the math. When you select a transaction type, the portal shows the exact maximum for that request.

Example: a $10,000 project

Stage

Request

Amount

Project kickoff

Deposit / Initial Charge

$3,000

Materials delivered

Project Charge

$4,500

Job complete

Final Charge

$2,500

Each request's maximum is whichever is smaller: the 50% single-request limit, or the room left under the 75% cap. In this example, the second request was capped at $4,500 — the room remaining under $7,500 — even though the single-request limit alone would have allowed $5,000.

The final charge — read before you submit

The final charge ends the application at any amount. If you request less than what's remaining, the difference cannot be requested later — submit a final charge for $1,000 when $5,000 remains, and the other $4,000 is gone. A confirmation dialog shows you the exact amount left behind before you commit. Make sure it covers everything owed.

Loans approved before August 19

Loans approved before August 19 aren't affected — you can continue requesting any amount at any stage, as you do today. The limits above apply only to loans approved on or after August 19.

Two more things

  • Your customer must create their Payment Portal Account before requests can be made. You can send their setup link from the Customer Summary.

  • All requests must be submitted before the purchase window ends — including the final charge. The date is shown in the Customer Summary, and the portal warns you as it approaches. If your project won't finish in time, contact our team before the window closes.
